19 June 2007 - Titan Outdoor, the UK leader for total outdoor solutions, has won the six year advertising contract for St Pancras International. This follows on from Titan’s Network Rail contract extension to manage all termini stations within the UK. This iconic station will re-open on 14 November 2007 as the new London home of Eurostar and terminus for the UK’s first high speed railway – High Speed 1 Titan will invest and work in partnership with the station’s owner, London & Continental Railways, to develop new advertising opportunities in digital, sponsorships and other formats for this beloved London landmark in this era of fast-paced change for outdoor advertising.
The £800m restoration and extension of St Pancras International to become one of London’s premier places to eat, meet and shop. From November, the new St Pancras International will feature Europe's longest champagne bar, a daily farmers’ market and over 82, 000 sq ft of top quality retail. The station has more underground connections than any other London station and will service Eurostar, Midland Mainline and First Capital Connect (Thameslink), as well as South Eastern high speed services to Kent (due to start in 2009).
Titan now holds contracts for London’s eight termini: Victoria, London Bridge, Charing Cross, Waterloo, Euston, Paddington, Cannon Street and Liverpool Street, accessing over 800 million visitors a year and now with St Pancras this will deliver an extra 44 million per year. Around 50% of all rail journeys in Great Britain begin or end at these stations. Titan delivers 86%* of the UK rail audience to advertisers every day which is set to increase as a result of the huge audience St Pancras will deliver.
Mike Luddy, project director, London & Continental Stations & Property, said:
“The rebirth of St Pancras International has been a phenomenal challenge as we have sought to mix sympathetic restoration with 21st century technology. The way we communicate with passengers, customers and visitors to the station has to be highly innovative. Digital pods, plasma screens and touchscreen terminals as well as wi-fi solutions will all be part of a faster and clearer way for people to access the information they want. Titan brings with it valuable experience and new thinking that are already proving invaluable.”
Jon Slatkin, Chief Executive of Titan Outdoor UK, commented:
“We are thrilled to be a part of this flagship development at St Pancras International and Network Rail’s chosen partner to innovate and invest for this exciting new European destination station. Titan unquestionably owns rail in the UK. As the clear market leader, we have the UK’s biggest and busiest stations, and Transvision, the country’s only profitable, national digital outdoor network. We are delighted with the phenomenal quality offering at St Pancras International. It is the ideal space to show what outdoor is really capable of in the 21st century.”
